Tractor Skills

 

The Countryside Skills Training Centre offers several tractor orientated courses focusing on driving skills, front end loader and maintenance. The length of the course depends on an individuals driver's experience.

 

Tractor Driving

 

Integrated training and assessment course of between one and five days, depending on the driver’s experience, for a maximum of four people. Non-assessed courses are available for 13-16 year olds.

 

In these courses you will learn:

  • The essential procedures for safe tractor driving
  • The relevant regulations
  • How to manoeuvre with different attachments
  • How to use your tractor safely on slopes
  • How to adjust, service and repair your machine

The courses are offered in a modular approach.

 

Mandatory Units:

  • Preparation and maintenance
  • Safe procedures and observation
  • Safe driving and handling of tractor

Optional Units:

  • Hitching/manoeuvring with mounted implements
  • Hitching/manoeuvring with trailed implements
  • Fitting and operation of PTO’s
  • Basic use of a tractor mounted loader

2 days - £250

3 days - £300

Tractor Driving on Slopes

 

Integrated training and assessment course of between one and two days, depending on the driver’s experience, for a maximum of six people.

 

Course Covers:

  • Personal safety
  • Observation
  • General safety
  • Slope assessment
  • Travelling

Costs:

1 day -  £180

2 days - £300

Tractor Maintenance

 

One or two-day course, depending on experience, for a maximum of four people.

 

Course Covers:

  • Why maintenance is necessary
  • Performing maintenance to the standard of the manufacturer’s instruction manual
  • Ensuring the tractor is in a safe road-going state

1 day -  £180

2 days - £300

Front End Loader

 

One day course for a maximum of four people.

 

Course Covers:

  • Attaching a mounted front-end loader
  • Attaching a bucket, muck fork, pallet forks etc. to the loader (as appropriate)
  • Using the loader correctly and organising working area for efficient operations
  • Leaving unattached implements in a safe state

Costs:

1 day -  £180
